We want to invite commoners, politicians, civil servants, social cultural workers,… from Kortrijk to our informal meeting on the 15th of June at Tranzit (Nelson Mandelaplein 17, 8500 Kortrijk). The informal meeting will start at 19:30u and will end around 22:30u.
Who are we?
We are a group of eight international students, from Belgium and Germany, studying Transnational Social Work at Hogeschool Vives. Together we are doing exploratory research for our bachelor thesis about commons in the city of Kortrijk. In collaboration with the Commons Lab we want to map commons in Kortrijk and give policy recommendations to the city of Kortrijk. One goal of our bachelor project is to host an informal meeting with commons, politicians, etc. of Kortrijk.
What is our goal?
We want to create a space for people, especially common initiatives and politicians, to exchange their experiences, knowledge and struggles. The goal for this is to think about solutions and policy recommendations for the city of Kortrijk.
What is a common?
A common is a collective group of people who share a resource (e.g. knowledge, place, materials, etc.) together deciding through democratic processes.
What is the value for you?
This meeting is about networking, getting to know other commons, initiatives and politicians. You can exchange your experiences and get some new ideas from each other to grow as an initiative. It might be interesting to share your ideas and thoughts about your struggles and challenges and learn about how others deal with similar challenges. To represent your own interest you can share your policy recommendations with the politicians.
Food & Drinks
We plan a little buffet and we would be happy if you contribute to it. The concept will be “Bring & Share”, as an example for common sense. Drinks are provided.
In case you are coming with a group, it would be helpful if everybody could bring something to our little buffet.
Important details:
This informal meeting will be hosted in English (because we are a group of international students). If you need support with the language, there is always someone who can help you.
The meeting is voluntary. There is no pressure to share your experiences. Feel free to only come and listen.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you will attend the informal meeting and how many colleagues you will bring with you.
Thank you in advance!
Greetings
Hannah Gässler, Jason Verhelst and the other students of the bachelor program
PS.: Feel free to bring some Flyers if you want to share them.
